Product Description:

Brake pad composition can vary significantly, depending on the application and braking needs. Some of the most common material types include sintered metal, ceramic, semi-metallic, and organic formulations. Ceramic and semi-metallic pads tend to be more durable and provide better stopping power than the cheaper organic pads, however, organic pads will wear down faster.

New brake pads have wear indicators molded in, and as the pads are worn down, the indicators protrude above the friction material thus allowing drivers to visually know that the pads eventually will need to be replaced. Not all brake pads are silent, the semi-metallic pads tend to create more noise and cause squealing when brakes are applied heavily. This is usually caused by glazed, contaminated, or unevenly worn friction material.

On top of noise, brake pad wear is responsible for brake dust, a fine powdery substance that accumulates on the wheels, brakes, and under the vehicle.
